BrassRing: Website Design, Development, Production, and Website Maintenance Services*

Project Scope

BrassRing had recently redesigned the Employers Marketing section of their website, but before launching the site, an in-house evaluation concluded that the site did not meet their company objectives. The original design was very attractive, but was difficult to navigate and needed to be updated and simplified.

Solution and Implementation

We were called upon to improve the usability of the site, while retaining many elements and the overall "feel" of the original design. After testing various user experience scenarios, we made made the following changes:

Completely redesigned the navigation. The new graphic navigation is more prominent and "clickable", and follows more traditional web standards, such as matching the top (graphical) navigation to HTML (text) navigation at the bottom of the page.
Added "breadcrumb" navigation to all pages of the site. This type of navigation helps orient the user within the site, and provides quick and easy links to higher-level pages. ASP scripting was utilized for the "breadcrumb" navigation for ease of future website maintenance.
Simplified the color palette.
Completely redesigned the Home page and top level Solutions page. These pages were previously dominated by large photos and did not provide easy links into the important pages of the site. The new design provides the user with an immediate path to high-priority pages on the site. The new design also eliminates pop-up windows on the home page.
Added an orienting bar at the top of every page. BrassRing provides products and services to two very different target markets: Employers and Job Seekers. This site is intended for Employers. The new orienting bar at the top of the page identifies this site as being intended for Employers, and provides an alternate link for Job Seekers.

Ongoing Website Maintenance Services

After the site launch, BrassRing signed on for Website Maintenance Services, taking advantage of this unique offering to quickly and easily keep their website updated.
